Pendant la p\u00e9riode de reproduction, le m\u00e2le se distingue par un plumage aussi vif que bigarr\u00e9, tandis que la femelle arbore des couleurs plus ternes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jadis tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandue en Asie de l’Est, cette esp\u00e8ce y est devenue menac\u00e9e. En 1980, le Japon a m\u00eame command\u00e9 3 000 couples aux Pays-Bas pour repeupler les lacs de son territoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce canard symbolise l\u2019amour \u00e9ternel et le couple harmonieux, car il est monogame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019est ainsi que l\u2019expression Oshidori fufu<\/em> (\u9d1b\u9d26\u592b\u5a66) d\u00e9signe un couple ins\u00e9parable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cet id\u00e9al fait l\u2019objet de nombreuses repr\u00e9sentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On trouve ainsi un couple de canards mandarins \u00e0 l\u2019ombre d\u2019un cam\u00e9lia de corail et de nacre sur cette tr\u00e8s belle bo\u00eete \u00e0 encens du XVIIIe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n

On y remarquera qu\u2019un canard a le bec ouvert tandis que l\u2019autre garde le bec ferm\u00e9 parce que, dans un couple, il faut \u00e9couter l\u2019autre quand il s\u2019exprime !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019est \u00e9galement en hiver qu\u2019Utagawa Kunisada II place des acteurs de kabuki<\/em> v\u00eatus en costumes de canard mandarin\u00a0m\u00e2le et femelle, tous deux avec des couleurs flamboyantes qui ne respectent pas leur dimorphisme sexuel\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
