Quand le jardin semble endormi et que le froid s\u2019installe durablement, certaines plantes se montrent capables de supporter le gel et m\u00eame de fleurir sous la neige.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est le cas des hell\u00e9bores.
Contrairement \u00e0 la plupart des plantes ornementales, ils n\u2019attendent pas le printemps pour fleurir. D\u00e8s la fin de l\u2019automne, ils d\u00e9ploient leurs fleurs aux tons subtils : blanc cr\u00e8me, rose poudr\u00e9, carmin profond, parfois ponctu\u00e9es de vert ou de taches sombres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur mon balcon, la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 Ice N’ Roses\u00ae Early Red<\/a> offre ainsi de magnifiques nuances\u00a0de pourpre\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pourquoi les hell\u00e9bores r\u00e9sistent-ils au froid ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Les hell\u00e9bores, plantes rustiques de montagnes et de sous-bois, ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 des m\u00e9canismes naturels pour faire face aux basses temp\u00e9ratures. Ils poss\u00e8dent des feuilles \u00e9paisses et coriaces. Quant \u00e0 leurs fleurs, elles s\u2019orientent vers le sol pour se prot\u00e9ger, comme lors de l’\u00e9pisode neigeux du 7 janvier \u00e0 Paris :<\/p>\n\n\n

R\u00e9sultat : ils tol\u00e8rent sans probl\u00e8me des temp\u00e9ratures n\u00e9gatives, souvent jusqu\u2019\u00e0 \u201315\u00b0C, voire davantage selon les vari\u00e9t\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On peut donc les conserver longtemps en pot sur un balcon, en respectant une exposition mi-ombrag\u00e9e.
Et nul besoin de les rentrer aux premiers frimas. Au fil de l\u2019hiver, on pourra m\u00eame observer que leurs couleurs \u00e9voluent, passant du clair au plus soutenu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En ce jour de l\u2019hell\u00e9bore dans le calendrier r\u00e9publicain, ses superbes fleurs nous rappellent que la nature n\u2019est qu\u2019en dormance, m\u00eame sous la neige.
Une vraie le\u00e7on de r\u00e9sistance\u2026 et d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance.<\/p>\n\n\n
