Longtemps utilis\u00e9e pour colorer huiles, onguents, cosm\u00e9tiques et certaines pr\u00e9parations artisanales, l\u2019orcanette t\u00e9moigne d\u2019un savoir-faire ancien o\u00f9 la connaissance des plantes se mettait au service de la couleur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une plante discr\u00e8te de la famille des bourraches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019orcanette appartient \u00e0 la famille des Boraginac\u00e9es, tout comme la bourrache, la consoude ou le myosotis. C\u2019est une plante vivace qui pousse naturellement dans les r\u00e9gions m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ennes, depuis le sud de l\u2019Europe jusqu\u2019au Proche-Orient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elle forme une touffe de tiges couvertes de poils rudes, portant des feuilles \u00e9troites et allong\u00e9es. C\u2019est cette mol\u00e9cule qui conf\u00e8re \u00e0 la plante ses propri\u00e9t\u00e9s colorantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une histoire ancienne de plante tinctoriale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019orcanette est utilis\u00e9e depuis l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 dans plusieurs r\u00e9gions du bassin m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en. Les racines \u00e9taient r\u00e9colt\u00e9es, s\u00e9ch\u00e9es puis r\u00e9duites en fragments ou en poudre afin d\u2019extraire leurs pigments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contrairement \u00e0 de nombreux colorants v\u00e9g\u00e9taux qui se dissolvent dans l\u2019eau, les pigments de l\u2019orcanette sont liposolubles : ils se diffusent facilement dans les huiles, les cires ou les corps gras. Cette particularit\u00e9 explique son usage traditionnel dans la fabrication de baumes, de pommades et de pr\u00e9parations m\u00e9dicinales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elle a \u00e9galement servi \u00e0 colorer des vernis, des encaustiques et certains objets en bois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un colorant naturel toujours appr\u00e9ci\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019arriv\u00e9e des colorants synth\u00e9tiques au XIX\u1d49 si\u00e8cle a entra\u00een\u00e9 un d\u00e9clin progressif de l\u2019utilisation de nombreuses plantes tinctoriales, dont l\u2019orcanette. Pourtant, elle conna\u00eet aujourd\u2019hui un regain d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat aupr\u00e8s des amateurs de teintures v\u00e9g\u00e9tales, des savonniers artisanaux et des fabricants de cosm\u00e9tiques naturels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il faut toutefois garder \u00e0 l\u2019esprit que la stabilit\u00e9 des couleurs obtenues reste variable.
